The good folks over at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, along with Del Papa Distributing Co., will have its 38th annual Island Oktoberfest — rain or shine — Friday and Saturday on 24th and Winnie streets in downtown Galveston.

Festivities will be from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and new this year will be a special Sunday morning German Polka Church service at 10 a.m. under the big tent outside the church. Oktoberfest will conclude at noon Sunday.
