Dom Flemons could describe what he does in many ways. But this multi-talented musician prefers to refer to himself as an “American songster.”

According to Flemons, “before you had strict categorization in music, songsters were musicians in communities who played for a variety of people and they represented a variety in music. Some of the songs were written and others songs were just popular songs of the day.”

Flemons says he started out singing folk music, but eventually added country and western music, country blues, cowboy songs and more to his repertoire.
