Lorde has opened up about the tragic loss of her beloved pet dog Pearl and how it will affect her upcoming album.

The New Zealand pop star – whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor – had been close to finishing her new studio effort, but after Pearl sadly passed away last month after suffering “two cardiac arrests about an hour apart”, she’s having to step back and reconsider her direction as a “light” has gone out.

The ‘Green Light’ hitmaker has described her loss as “indescribably painful” and explained how the pooch was leading her “discovery”, and now she needs to “take some time” to “see what the work is going to be”, and so she has decided to push back the follow-up
