But in reality, it’s going to force schools to make some very tough decisions over the next few months and potentially put coaches in awkward positions with their seniors. 

While the NCAA did the right thing by granting the blanket waiver for athletes in sports like baseball, softball, tennis, lacrosse and more, the devil is in the details.

Rather than mandating schools renew the scholarships of outgoing seniors, which would have been financially devastating to a significant number of Div. 1 programs when added to the scholarships already committed to incoming freshman, the NCAA made the legislation permissive.
