The Michigan health department reported 1,156 new COVID-19 cases and 68 new deaths Saturday.

Of the 68 deaths, 62 were identified during a vital records review, which the department conducts three times a week. 

Michigan now has a total of 587,581 confirmed cases and 15,522 deaths since March. 

As of Thursday, the state has shipped 2,621,225 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and has administered 2,131,955 doses as of Friday— 81.33% of those shipped.

Michigan had a positivity rate of 3.5% Friday, reporting that 1,216 of 34,733 diagnostic test results were positive.  

The state has a fatality rate of 2.6% among known cases, according to data from the state health department.
