MADISON (WKOW) — The Wisconsin Department of Health Services officially launched its online vaccine registry Wednesday, laying the groundwork to expand statewide vaccination efforts.

The registry will ask several questions of any applicant, including gender, age, ethnicity, medical history and COVID-19 testing history. If the applicant is not yet eligible for a vaccine, or if none are currently available, the applicant will go on a waiting list.

According to a DHS news release, the registry will not initially be a comprehensive resource for vaccinations, as many private businesses and local health departments already have software for distributing vaccines. However, Gov. Tony Evers said the registry will ease the process.
